We have got off to a great start for 2024 and it has been a term with so many highlights.
We started the term with a full day of Autism Education Trust training for all staff (focusing on good autism practice). We welcomed our new Assistant Head Teacher of Behaviour and Ethos, Grace Williams, to The Rise Team. The School Council met with Viv Berkeley, our Director of Education, to discuss the Time for Ambition strategy and what it means to them.
Hot chocolate Fridays with the Head Teacher continue to flourish, a way that we can celebrate with our wonderful learners on a weekly basis. All Year 10 and 11 pupils have been finishing their BTEC home cooking practical assessments and learners continue to produce some wonderful mouth-watering food. Year 7 pupils have all started a six week programme of skiing lessons once a fortnight, and they are thoroughly enjoying the slopes. Year 9 learners had the experience of an ‘afternoon tea’ at Squires Garden Centre, this culminated in pupils preparing their own afternoon tea.
